Moving day...

Yesterday, Joe and I moved into our house! It is identical to the one we walked through, which was good. The inspector, Rosa, was very nice and walked us through rather quickly. Afterwards, I noticed she walked down the street. Joe and I were wondering what the guys outside with the vests on were doing. Apparently, there was a drill going on and our street was locked down. No one in (including our movers with our temporary furniture) and no one out (including our inspector, who had to walk back to her office). Well, we had the idea to walk around the corner to our friends', Nick and Sandy, house but were told we couldn't even be on the street on foot. So with no food, no furniture, we pulled out our beach blanket and laid on the concrete floor watching movies on the computer for several HOURS until we were able to leave! Our loaner furniture was delivered, and as expected, was like the type of "comfy" furniture you'd find in a doctor's office! But it was better than the floor!

We found out today that our big shipment of goods is finally here and is going through customs. We should have it by next week and can finally starting settling in! Our small shipment (the one of all our short term essentials - that was supposed to arrive right after us) is still in the states... nice. Defeated that purpose! Thankfully, Nick and Sandy were nice enough to give us things from the kitchen to make us able to cook since they don't give you loaner pots/pans... =)

I have pictures of the house, don't worry... but forgot to bring them with us to where we can use computers since we won't have phones or internet for two more weeks. So I will post them tomorrow of the empty house! You won't see pics of the development though, for security reasons. I only took pics inside.

I already have ideas of color schemes and furniture we'll need... and am figuring out where to put my wall expressions that I bought from Lindsay through Uppercase Living. There is no demonstrator here for that, but I'm sure when people see my awesome wall art... Lindsay will be getting emails!! I just wish she was here to apply them. If they are crooked in pictures, pretend they're straight, okay?

Next week, Joe and I will spend M-F from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at an ICR class (Intercultural relations) taught by two Spanish Nationals. It's a mandatory orientation that will brief us about the base amenities, local culture and there are two day-long field trips, one to Rota and one to Cadiz. It will be interesting and I've heard it's pretty fun. We will get to skip out early on Tuesday though, since we have already passed our Spanish driver's tests and don't need to take it again! Yeah! I'm still not going to drive for a while here though... they whip around those turnabouts way too quickly! And that's saying a lot coming from a Jersey girl.
